Brent’s CAS Policy

Brent International School Manila believes in developing well-rounded individuals, with a deep understanding of the common values that are shared with all humanity.  Guided by the school’s mission statement and its commitment to the mission and aims of the IBO and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP); all students at Brent Manila are recommended to participate in a wide range of extracurricular and co-curricular opportunities provided by the school.  Fundamental to this commitment, the school invites administrators, faculty members, parents, and students to actively participate in areas that can support the Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS) program.

In addition to recognizing the central role that the CAS program plays in the fulfillment of the IBDP, Brent Manila wholeheartedly supports student attainment of the IB Learner Profile characteristics.  Therefore, student-initiated undertakings are highly encouraged for all grade 11 and 12 students.  The emphasis of completing the CAS requirements is through the achievement of the 8 CAS learning outcomes wherein the quality of reflection and evidence is the prime objective, instead of completion of hours.  The experiences of individual students, in their various levels of involvement and engagement, shape principled, open-minded, caring, risk-taking, balanced and reflective learners in society.
