Dear parents, students and alumni,

Brent will carry out a Self Study as the school works towards re-accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) from the United States. The WASC Focus on Learning Self Study process is part of an ongoing school review and improvement cycle that assists schools all over the world in focusing on student success in meeting learner outcomes and academic standards.

The Self Study process will be carried out over the next two, school years starting with an orientation in September 2018. From there, committees will develop a report which will be sent to a WASC team for review prior to their visit to Brent in March 2020.

Brent will organize faculty, staff, students and PTA volunteers into review committees that will analyze student data in relation to our ESLRs and four categories of WASC criteria:

1. Organization for Student Learning
2. Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
3. Support for Student Personal and Academic Growth
4. School Culture and Environment

Brent will also send out via email online surveys to parents, students (grades 4-12), faculty and alumni. Surveys will begin in August and end on October 12 2018. The results of the surveys will provide important feedback for our self-study review.

The findings of the committees will be used to revise and develop a schoolwide action plan. The WASC Visiting Committee will give insight to the school through dialogue with our committees about their findings and by its own review of evidence and student work.

We are confident that this will be a productive experience for our entire school community and will result in reaccreditation of our school. We encourage everyone to take part in this process as Brent continues to develop and implement plans to provide our students with a top quality education and school experience.
