Dear Brent Families,

This is a big “Thank you!” to each and every Brent parent, student, teacher and employee for your part in a very successful transition back to face-to-face learning.

There will no doubt be more issues to navigate in the coming months as the pandemic has not fully subsided yet, but we have come a very long way thanks to your patience and perseverance.

Less than a year ago we were still fully online. We ended last school year using the High-flex hybrid model that gave students an option for five days of face-to-face instruction. Two-thirds of families took that option. Thank you for trusting us with your children. Their presence on campus helped us begin reintroducing in-person activities and important events like prom and graduation.

This semester we have further expanded our activities and participated in multiple tournaments including ISAC. We have expanded our busing, and last week we watched our first in-person Middle School Production in three years. Many universities have already visited our campus, and long-term relationships with embassies and institutions are being renewed.

These are just a few of the many events and activities that we have reestablished in the past few months. As an aggregate they are the fabric that form an environment where we can develop students of sound mind and healthy character.

Looking forward, Lord willing, we plan to have live Lower School Christmas Productions and a Christmas Concert. We are already planning a Food Fest, and I am working with the other APAC School Heads to restart international tournaments and travel for fine arts activities.

One of our teachers gave a talk on the Filipino word “Bayanihan” as we started this year with the chapel theme, “Be a Good Community Member.” I am proud to be a member of the Brent Community with all of you.

Please enjoy a well deserved break next week.

Sincerely,
Jason Atkins
Headmaster
