Congratulations to Angelo Adlawan!

Angelo Sebastian Adlawan (grade 8) participated in this year’s Little League Philippine Series 2018 tournament representing Muntinlupa Little League. The team won the championship in the Juniors Division for the Regionals against 6 other baseball teams. They are now qualified to play for the Nationals as Luzon champions competing against the champions of Visayas and Mindanao. A Lion in action! Good work, Angelo!

Way to go, Cruz Garcia!

3rd grader Cruz Garcia participated in this year’s Philippine Series Baseball tournament. He represented International Little League Association of Manila’s first ever under 10 ILLAM Minors National team. The team of 8 to 10 year olds came in 4th place out of 8 teams. Way to go, Cruz!

​Congratulations to Third Season APAC teams for an outstanding representation of Brent Pride!

Girls Soccer – They won APAC for the second year in a row! The tournament was at Kobe, Japan.
All-APAC Selection: Annika Velez, Andie Tiongson, Natasha Saunders and Jenna Wyckoff

Boys Soccer – The boys lost only one game, tied another, and won three games in the round robin play in Beijing. Their great effort resulted in 4th place, with All-APAC Selection going to Yu Izeki, Xavier Zubiri, and Kyle Dawelbait.

Softball – Brent did a wonderful job hosting APAC Softball. Thanks to everyone who made it smooth. The team played well through the elimination round and ended the tournament with a decent record of 3 wins 3 losses record and vow to medal next year. All APAC was Hannah Grace Rutland. The team also won the much coveted SPORTSMANSHIP award! Congratulations Lion Softball!

Badminton – Our girls and boys badminton teams came 6th, and 5th places respectively, for this season’s APAC Badminton tournament, played at ISB.

Track & Field – The girls team won 2nd place. Many records were broken and many individual golds were won. The girls set 6 new APAC records. The boys made a strong showing as well and made a huge jump in the standings. We look forward to challenging for a title with both the boys and girls next track season.

Congratulations to William and Joseph Leggatt (gr. 8) for winning first place in the cruiser class and second place overall across all classes at the Puerto Galera Yacht Club 25th annual 3 day Easter Regatta.

Congratulations to Hannah Pangilinan!

On March 17, Hannah Pangilinan (gr. 12) represented her generation, Gen Z, at CNN Philippines’ Women’s Month event, “Leading Women to #PressforProgress,” where she talked about her role as an influencer and role model to young girls, and as a female YouTube content creator. Well done, Hannah!

​Kyle Ashley Canicosa

Kyle Ashley Canicosa (gr. 12) is a rockstar in Biology. Ashley’s name was published in a recent research abstract in the Journal of Investigative Medicine. This was due to her accomplishment of attending a summer program at UC Irvine School of Medicine where she worked with a university professor/pediatrician, a graduate researcher, and other high school students to write a meta analysis literary review. This review was selected for presenting at the Western Research Conference. Good work, Ashley!

Congratulations to Paul Seo and Andrew Lee!

Congratulations to both Sanghyun “Paul” Seo (gr. 9) and Andrew Hyungmin Lee (gr. 12) for their performances at the South East Asia Mathematics Competition March 2-4, 2018. Both Andrew and Paul have received invitations to the World Math Championships to be held in Melbourne, Australia this June. Paul also received a Gold Medal for his individual performance at SEAMC! Way to go, Lions!

Mathematical Association of America

We are honored to have Mathematician at Large for the Mathematical Association of America, Dr. James Stuart Tanton, come and visit Brent for the South East Asian Math Competition (SEAMC) 2018. Brent is co-hosting SEAMC 2018.

Dr. Tanton is also the Chair Advisory Council for the National Museum of Mathematics. He founded the Curriculum Inspirations Project and the Global Math Project whose goal is joyful uplifting mathematics for the world. Dr. Tanton was warmly accepted and with much admiration by Brent’s Grades 4 and 5 students.

National Honor Society

Brent’s National Honor Society has been chosen to receive a grant for their work with the Gawad Kalinga Village. Altrusa, a non-profit charity in the United States, has graciously donated 24,000 pesos to purchase new tables and chairs for the Community Center in the GK Phillips Village where NHS tutors. Any remaining funds will be used to purchase materials for tutoring. Keep up the good work, Lions!
